This course explains the advantages of the waterproofing process as well as its limitations, including non protection from hydrodynamic force of flowing water, erosion and scour, the impact of ice, and damage from flood borne contaminants. This course discusses modifications to be carried out while implementing wet floodproofing in the homes like installing openings, using flood resistant materials, and protection of service equipment. The content provides detailed guidance for non-engineered foundation openings and lists the various requirements. The material is based on Wet Floodproofing Section 6.

At the conclusion of this course, the learner will have a better understanding of wet floodproofing requirements for structures located in special flood hazard areas (SFHA’s), as well as an understanding of the following topics:
